The GOP is leading an effort to block the military from planning for climate change

Since the Bush Administration, the Department of Defense has been warning that climate change poses a threat to national security. In January 2016, Pentagon officials proposed to update their climate threat assessments, in response to a directive from President Obama. House Republicans have moved to block the Defense Department’s efforts to prepare for climate change.
