With two Mormons now running for President, Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman, Mormonism may be entering the mainstream consciousness like never before in American history.

Misconceptions surrounding Mormonism still persist in American culture. Some 22 percent of the nation still says they would never vote for a Mormon for President, according to a Gallup poll. But attitudes toward Mormonism may be changing drastically, with two Mormons running for President and one hit musical on broadway calling itself "The Book of Mormon." Mark Silk, director of the Leonard E. Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life at Trinity College, and Helen Whitney, producer of the PBS documentary, "Mormons," discuss.
