Harold Camping, a Californian radio preacher, has said that Judgment Day will come on May 21 at 6:00 pm. Why do people love thinking about the apocalypse?

Believing that the apocalypse is on its way gives a sense of meaning to history, according to Paul Boyer, Professor of History Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the author of "When Time Shall Be No More: Prophecy Belief in Modern American Culture. Many Christians, though, prohibit setting a date on judgment day, because they believe that no man can know the day or the date.
