Too many Americans have already maxed out their credit cards and couldn't get a loan, even in the case of financial emergency.

One half of all Americans are not prepared for financial disaster. A survey from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that half of all Americans couldn't come up with $2,000 in cash in 30 days. Beth Kobliner discusses the results.
