When searching for a gift for Mother's Day, you could give a book about a horrible mother, to remind her of how good your mom really was.

Chocolate and flowers for Mother's Day is nice, but predictable. The book "White Oleander" by Janet Fitch could be a more unexpected choice. Patrik Henry Bass, Takeaway contributor and senior editor at Essence magazine has put together a list of books to say thank you to your mother for not being "Mommy Dearest."
