Ugandan newspaper names ‘200 top homos’ 24 hours after president signs anti-gay law

Yesterday, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed a new law that makes homosexuality a crime punishable by life in prison.

It took only 24 hours for the witch-hunt to begin.

Red Pepper, a Ugandan tabloid, kicked it off with this cover, which claims to out the "200 top homos" in the country.

It's not the first time a Ugandan paper published the names of allegedly gay Ugandans. In 2010, Rolling Stone (obviously no affiliation with the music and culture magazine) published a cover story titled "100 pictures of Uganda's top homos leak." That story was accompanied with a small banner headline: "Hang them."
