David Broza - East Jerusalem, West Jerusalem

Host Marco Werman introduces us to  Nick Lowe's "What's So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding?" performed here by Israeli musician David Broza and the Jerusalem Youth Choir.

And this rendition shows what can happen when you do have peace, love, and understanding. It's produced and performed by Israeli multi-platinum singer-songwriter and guitarist David Broza. The singers here are teenage Israelis and Palestinians in the Jerusalem Youth Choir.

Broza's goal was bringing Israeli West Jerusalem and Palestinian East Jerusalem just a little bit closer together. David Broza has been exploring East Jerusalem on his own for the past 15 years.

It's a place many Israelis just don't go.

But Broza connected with a Palestinian composer, became friends, and started hanging out at his studio in East Jerusalem. That's when Broza got the idea to make these two Jerusalems more like one place.

The result is this just released CD -- called "East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem."  It also features some original songs.

But this cover just seemed appropriate on Friday. So a Happy Valentine's Day to you, and here's to all the great things love can bring!
