Egypt's ousted President Mohamed Morsi was back in court Tuesday, on charges of breaking out of prison in 2011, during the uprising that overthrew Hosni Mubarak.

Video emerged of a defiant Morsi shouting, "I am the president of the republic, how can I be kept in a dump for weeks?"

Deposed by the army last July, the democratically-elected Morsi is already on trial for allegedly inciting the killings of protesters during his tenure. Two more criminal trials against Morsi have yet to begin.

Morsi and his fellow defendants appeared behind a sound-proofed glass box, although the former president was separated from the other defendants.

The BBC's journalist who was at the trial said the defendants shouted "Down with military rule" when the courtroom was allowed to listen in on the glass box.

Morsi later shouted that he was the legitimate president, asking the judge angrily, "Who are you, who are you?"

Judge Shabaan el-Shami shot back, "I am the head of Egypt's criminal court!"

On trial alongside Morsi were 130 other defendants from diverse backgrounds, including members of his banned group, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Palestinian movement Hamas and Lebanon's Shia militant group Hezbollah.

One hundred and ten of them are being tried in absentia.

Morsi's trial was adjourned until February 22.
