What makes this rare Macallan "M" whisky so special?

First, there's the bottle.

One of only four ever made, the faceted crystal decanter stands 28 inches tall and holds 6 liters of single malt scotch — about as much as 3 bottles of soda.

It took 17 craftsman more than 50 hours to make by hand, according to French glass company Lalique.

As for the whisky, it was blended from seven different casks by the Scottish distillery over a period of two years.

The oak casks ranged in age from 25 to 75 years old, according to the company.

Before this, the world's most expensive whisky was a 64-year-old bottle of Macallan single malt that sold for $460,000.
