VIDEO: Snowy, icy weather in Seattle makes for unpleasant conditions

Alaska’s snow has moved south. And it’s turned to ice.

Seattle is being pelted with snow and ice this week, dropping half a foot of snow on the metro over the past couple days, couple with a layer of ice that, for a time, shut down the city’s international airport.

According to the Seattle Times, virtually all of the city’s school districts are closed and, in western Washington, thousands are without power.

King5 TV reported, nearly half an inch of ice had fallen in some areas of the Seattle metro during the storm.

Thursday’s storm, which seemed to get worst during rush hour, comes after a potentially record-breaking storm hit the area on Wednesday.

But there’s hope for Washington residents. With high temperatures expected to be about 37 in Seattle by midday, some thawing — and melting — can be expected.
