The Freud Museum in London made an appeal to have the couch of Sigmund Freud re-upholstered for his 157th birthday. One of Freud's many patients was American Poet Hilda Doolittle, also known as H.D.
The World's Marco Werman speaks with Dawn Kemp, the acting director of the Freud Museum and Susan Friedman, an English Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to discuss why the couch is in need of repair and how Sigmund Freud and H.D. formed a unique student-analyst relationship around the famous chaise lounge.
