Malala Yousafzai Addresses United Nations

The Takeaway

The consequences of violence will not stop one of the most genuine voices of our time.
Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai turns 16 today, but she’s already seen a lot in her short life. Last October, Malala was shot in the head as she left her school in Pakistan.
Members of the Taliban claimed responsibility but they didn’t silence Malala.
Wearing a shawl that belonged to the late Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Malala celebrated her 16th birthday with a speech at the United Nations today. We bring you part of that speech here.
