Latin American Immigrants in the United States

The Takeaway

There is unquestionably an emerging middle class in Latin America. But what about Latinos here in the United States?
Eileen Diaz-McConnell  is an associate professor at Arizona State University. She specializes in Latino demographics, particularly on the rate of homeownership in those demographics.
“People continue to want to come here,” Diaz-McConnell says of immigration to the United States. But with an emerging middle class in Latin America, the American Dream isn’t quite what it used to be.
Latinos were an important demographic in the last election though, and perhaps, as politics change to accommodate this new population, economics will follow.
