Immigrating to the US can be a difficult experience. Not only are you torn away from you previous life, but you enter into a new culture, one which you may not understand.
Assimilation can be especially painful for youth, who have to go to schools where they are surrounded by people they don’t know and who might treat them as a foreigner.
Zuhur Ahmed is the host of the Somali Community Link at KFAI in Twin Cities, Minnesota and she immigrated here when she was 13-years-old. She shares her experience assimilating to American culture.
