How to Make Money Selling Drugs

The Takeaway

“How to Make Money Selling Drugs” is a new documentary film written and directed by Matthew Cooke and produced in partnership with Bret Marcus and Adrian Grenier.
The film, making its debut at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, styles itself as a “how to guide” to navigating through the gritty underworld of the drug trade, whilst exploring a greater political message on the failures of The War on Drugs.
This documentary offers an insider perspective into the drug war, featuring a wealth of talking head interviews from king pins such as Rick Ross to former police officers like Neill Franklin. The film’s star-studded cast also includes cameo appearances by artists such as 50 Cent and Eminem, all of whom speak towards their experiences with America’s cultural War on Drugs.
“‘How to Make Money Money Selling Drugs’ is a new approach to documentary film making,” says Grenier. “We figured instead of marginalizing ourselves right out of the gate with a really boring didactic film, we said you know what, let’s make something fun that people will actually be compelled to see.”
Matthew Cooke and Adrian Grenier join us in studio to discuss the devastating social impact of this war and their new documentary film.
