FBI Releases Photos of Boston Bombing Suspects
The FBI released photos and videos of two suspects in Monday’s bombings at the Boston Marathon. Richard DesLauriers, the FBI special agent in charge of the investigation, asked people to help identify the men. “For more than 100 years, the FBI has relied on the public to be its eyes and ears,” DesLauriers said. “We know the public will play a critical role in identifying these individuals.”
The two men, referred to as Suspect 1 and Suspect 2, are shown carrying backpacks that resemble the cloth fabric remnants recovered from the blast. One man is wearing a white baseball cap and the other is wearing a black cap. In the video, Suspect 2 is seen dropping a backpack near the site of one of the blasts minutes before the explosion, said DesLauriers in a press conference Thursday.
The FBI found the photos and footage after scanning through many hours of video and photos taken by the news reporters, store surveillance cameras and the public. Those with information should call 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit bostonmarathontips.fbi.gov. The suspects are considered to be armed and extremely dangerous.
