President Mohamed Morsi proposed a consensus government as a way out of the crisis in Egypt and the country’s top general called for an emergency meeting with civilian political leaders to discuss a new interim government.
Meanwhile, tanks have surrounded the presidential palace and a travel ban has been placed upon Mohammed Morsi. A top Morsi adviser has said a military coup is underway.
With the deadline issued by the military now passed,  Shadi Hamid,  the director of research at the Brookings Doha Center, joins The Takeaway to discuss the scenarios that could play out in the aftermath of this ultimatum.
