Chamber Pop from the British Quartet Field Music

One of my favorite albums so far this year is “Plumb”, the fourth album by the British quartet Field Music. The group is led by brothers Peter and David Brewis.

Their music has been described as post-pop for punk lovers, which is quite accurate, but there’s also a love for weird time signatures and surprising melodic turns.

Field Music are influenced by 1960s chamber pop and 80s new wave.

The Brewis Brothers write catchy, hooky power-pop songs without compromising any of their artistic integrity.

An example of this is their song “(I Keep Thinking About) A New Thing,” which would be a hit single in a more just world.
