Edward Snowden is the Guardian’s person of the year (VIDEO)
Near-daily revelations from documents stolen by Snowden are rocking Washington’s relations with some of its closest allies.
National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden was voted person of the year by readers of the Guardian, the British newspaper he first shared his classified secrets with.
Snowden was the overwhelming choice of the 2,000 readers who voted.

The whistleblower, who leaked an estimated 200,000 files that exposed the NSA's controversial spying program, won 1,445 of the votes.
Marco Weber and Sini Saarela, Greenpeace activists who led a protest over Arctic oil drilling by Russia, came in a distance second.
Pope Francis was third with 153 votes.

Snowden, now living in asylum in Russia, is also on Time's short list for its 2013 Person of the Year.
Other nominees for Time's honor include President Barack Obama, Pope Francis, Miley Cyrus, Sen. Ted Cruz and Iran's President Hassan Rouhani.
