One student dead, three injured, after stabbing incident at Houston high school

One student was killed and another three injured after a fight escalated into a series of stabbings early Wednesday at a high school in Houston.

Seventeen-year-old student Luis Alonzo Alfaro was charged with murder in the deadly altercation at Spring High School on the city's north side.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. local time before classes started. Police still weren't sure what caused the fight.

District officials canceled classes at the school for the rest of the week.

A 17-year-old male student was fatally stabbed and another three were taken to hospital, including one in a critical condition.

“We have three persons of interest our investigators are interviewing at the moment," Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia told reporters.

"There has been some information that this may have been gang related, but it's a very dynamic scene and investigators are collecting information. We'll work through that as we get it.”
