World’s Ugliest Dog, Beagle-Basset-Boxer Walle, is actually kind of cute

The World

The crown for the world's ugliest dog has been given out again and this time the canine doesn't look so bad.

We're still reeling from pictures of the former world's ugliest dog, the late Yoda but this year's pick –  a beagle, boxer basset mix – is not as hard on the eyes.

Walle's only faults really are his humpback and oddly elongated body that likely stems from rather diabolical breeding practices.

"This dog looked like he's been photo-shopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals," said Brian Sobel, a judge at the 25th annual World's Ugliest Dog Contest that took place in Petaluma, California.

Walle was a surprise win given the amount of truly hideous choices among Chihuahuas and Chinese cresteds – or blends of the two.

Walle takes home $1500 for his accomplishment and will make the daytime talkshow rounds next week.
