British mom filmed confronting killers of soldier in London explains brave act (VIDEO)

Ingrid Loyau-Kennett, the woman filmed trying to talk one of the knife-wielding Woolwich attackers down, has said she intervened because "it was better having them [the weapons] aimed on one person."

Loyau-Kennett, 48, a cub scout leader from Cornwall told ITV Daybreak that when she confronted him why he had killed the British Army soldier, the man said the pair wanted "to start a war in London tonight."

The mother of two also said she acted on instinct, and out of concern for the children from a nearby school.

Asked if she was scared, the woman replied:

"No — better me than a child. Unfortunately there were more and more mothers with children stopping around, so it was even more important I was talking to him and ask him what he wanted."

Loyau-Kennett was first identified on Twitter by her son Basil after he saw a picture published from the Twitter account of an eyewitness.

He tweeted:

He then described his mother as a "motherf—ing badass".

Loyau-Kennett reportedly ran from a passing bus after seeing the victim lying in the road and tried to take his pulse.

Only later did she notice that the men were heavily armed, with knives and a revolver.

According to the Daily Telegraph, she said:

"I thought it was better having them aimed on one person like me rather than everybody there, children were starting to leave school as well… He was not high, he was not on drugs, he was not an alcoholic or drunk, he was just distressed, upset I said 'right now it is only you versus many people, you are going to lose, what would you like to do?' and he said 'I would like to stay and fight'."

At one point she even asked one of the men to hand over his weapons.

"He said, 'Don't touch, I killed him'. I said, 'Why?' He said: 'He's a British soldier. He killed people. He killed Muslim people in Muslim countries.' And I said: okay. So what would you like? I tried to maker him talk about how he felt. He said all the bombs dropping and blindly killing women, children…"

She said other women had also intervened, with one "cradling" the soldier's body.
