Pinewood Shepperton, UK studio that makes James Bond movies, to build its first US facility

The UK film studio that makes the James Bond movies is building its first movie production facility in the United States.

Pinewood Shepperton PLC, based outside of London, announced it would construct a film production complex with at least five soundstages and production offices near Atlanta.

"Today's agreement is another step forward for the Pinewood brand internationally," CEO Ivan Dunleavy said. “This new studio will target US productions.”

The company has studios in Canada, the Dominican Republic, Germany and Malaysia, according to CBS News. And earlier this month, Pinewood said it was launching a joint venture with a Chinese media group, BBC News reported.

Georgia offers enticing tax incentives to production companies to get them to film movies and television series in the state, BBC News reported. They provide a tax credit of 20 percent to 30 percent to companies that spend $500,000 or more, and an additional 10 percent tax credit for productions that show a Georgia-peach logo.
