The Return of Nightingales to Berlin

The World
Thursday's Geo Quiz is a stroll in the park. A park in Berlin, to be specific. It surrounds the city's Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the German president near the banks of the Spree River. The park's two square miles were largely deforested during World War II but today the park is again a woodsy, urban retreat where Berliners like to stroll. At night this time of year, the park's a perfect place to hear the songs of nightingales, which have just arrived back in the city. Producer Alexa Dvorson sent us an audio postcard from Berlin's Tiergarten, the answer to the Geo Quiz. Here's a closeup view of a Nightingale singing away in the English countryside.
