Made in China fake bulletproof vests sold to Russian police

Russian police were sold fake bulletproof vests made in China said Russia's minister of interior.

A Russia-based company called Zachtchita won a contract in June for 12.5 million euros to produce bulletproof vests for Russian security forces.

Instead of manufacturing the vests in Russia, the company bought fake flack jackets in China.

Even worse, the fake vests didn't protect against bullets – a discovery made before anyone was hurt.

The protective gear was apparently designed to be used by steel workers, not police.

Russia cancelled the contract with the company this week and fined it 1.4 million euros.
