Russia's Plosky Tolbachik volcano has erupted, sending 2.5 miles of gas and ashes into the sky. Experts say that it could continue for four months, BBC News reported.

Gennady Karpov, a volcano expert, said that the explosion is unprecedented. "There were no lava lakes at Kamchatka volcanoes before now," she told the Associated Press. "We have never seen this before."
