Swedish teens riot over “slut-shaming” Instagram posts

What's worse than being a "slut?" Being a coward. A student at high school in Gothenburg, Sweden set up an anonymous Instagram account to publicly slut-shame young teenagers. The user asked other users to send in pictures of "sluts" from the safety of their computers. While the student promised anonymity to anyone who submitted photos, the subjects of the photographs were not spared. More than 200 photos were posted on Instagram detailing the names and sexual activities of girls and boys who are just 13 and 14-years old, The Local reported.

"It grew to 7,000 to 8,000 followers. They were [pictures of] younger siblings of my friends, born around 1997 and later, that were uploaded," a 22-year-old Gothenburg resident told Aftonbladet.

Angry, humiliated teens retaliated by organizing a massive protest at the school where they believe the Instagram account originated. But the protest quickly turned violent. Police came and said they were hit by rocks and bottles, The Local reported.

Police have arrested 27 of the rioters so far, Aftonbladet reported.
