Lewis, a 28-year-old Los Angeles native, may have been renting a room from the woman.

Police found the body of Catherine Davis in her home Wednesday morning after responding to a call of a screaming woman in the affluent Los Feliz neighborhood, Reuters reported.

Lewis was then found dead in the driveway of the home. Police believe he either fell from or jumped off the roof, although a cause of death has not yet been determined, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Police do believe Lewis was responsible for Davis' killing.

“The best we’re piecing together now is that it appears that some type of altercation occurred inside of the house resulting in the death of the woman, then this individual ran outside, had an altercation with a couple of neighbors, ran back into the house and by the time we got here, he had fallen or had somehow died on the driveway,” LAPD Commander Andrew Smith told a local ABC affiliate.

TMZ reported that Lewis had just been released from jail six days earlier and is believed to have been on drugs at the time of the murder.
