The Far Out Destination of Voyager

We're looking out well beyond the reach of Earth's gravity in the Geo Quiz this time. Instead of the usual search for the name of a city or an ocean, we're looking for a "bubble of charged particles." That's how scientists describe an area of space we'd like you to name. It basically surrounds our solar system, though scientists haven't yet mapped out its precise boundaries. If you're wondering why all this space talk — well, this is where the Voyager spacecraft are now. For 35 years NASA's two Voyager space probes have been speeding out toward the outer bounds of our solar system. They are currently "dancing on the edge of the solar system," according to NASA, galloping along at about 10 miles per second, and headed into the heliosphere, the answer to our Geo Quiz. On board both spacecraft are time capsules. Just in case anyone comes into contact with the Voyagers, it's hoped they'll be ecstatic to learn of life elsewhere in the universe. The following music was included on the golden Voyager record: Bach, Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F. First Movement, Munich Bach Orchestra, Karl Richter, conductor. 4:40 Java, court gamelan, "Kinds of Flowers," recorded by Robert Brown. 4:43 Senegal, percussion, recorded by Charles Duvelle. 2:08 Zaire, Pygmy girls' initiation song, recorded by Colin Turnbull. 0:56 Australia, Aborigine songs, "Morning Star" and "Devil Bird," recorded by Sandra LeBrun Holmes. 1:26 Mexico, "El Cascabel," performed by Lorenzo Barcelata and the Mariachi México. 3:14 "Johnny B.
