London Olympics closing ceremony will be a party

Cheeky and cheesy are the buzzwords Olympic organizers are using to describe today's closing ceremonies, already saying that it will be the "best after-show party there's ever been."

The Independent reported that the world's athletes will gather together in a giant circular mosh pit in unison to watch the display. Four-time gold medal winner Ben Ainslie will lead team Great Britain into the stadium as the country's flag bearer. 

"The real show is the Olympics, the sport. It's always been a blessing to have this job of putting on an aftershow party after the main event. I want it to be fun, I want it to be colourful. I want it to be the best aftershow party there has ever been," said closing ceremony director Kim Gavin.

According to the Guardian, the opening hour of the ceremony will feature a mix of British music through the ages, including George Michael, Muse, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, David Arnold, and Fatboy Slim are all expected to appear, and Gavin said that all are supposed to sing live.

To go along with the informal party theme, there will be no stage; instead, the musicians will be literally high-lighted by dramatic lightening to separate them from the 41,000 performers.

For everyone feeling a bit of early withdrawal over the 2012 Olympics' inevitable end, brace yourselves for an eight-minute segment by the Rio 2016 organizers that will precede the passing of the Olympic flag from London's mayor, Boris Johnson, to the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes.

"It's really full of that samba beat. It's creative and really cultural. We've helped them every step of the way," Gavin said. "I wanted to make us look forward to the future. It's important that we embrace that and look forward to the next Games."
