Ann Romney says Mitt may seek a woman for VP (VIDEO)

Ann Romney shared an interesting tidbit on her husband's highly secretive search for a vice presidential candidate: Mitt Romney may be considering a woman for VP.

"We've been looking at that, and I love that option as well," Ann Romney told CBS News in a joint interview with her husband that was broadcast Thursday, the Associated Press reported. 

Mitt declined to either confirm or deny the possibility of a female VP, telling reporters, "That's something I'm keeping close with my team."

The AFP reported that in the interview Ann Romney said there were several women, "that I really like a lot," for the role of second in command, but refused to elaborate any further.

The AFP also noted that this would be a wise move for Romney, as President Obama is leading by double digits among women in recent polls. AFP added, "A female vice presidential pick could help Romney neutralize the incumbent's advantage among women voters."

In the interview the only qualifications Ann said a female VP would need were, "someone that obviously can do the job but will be able to carry through with some of the other responsibilities," The Atlantic reported. 

While there are several women who fit that bill, the only woman he has been publicly linked to (politically speaking of course) is US Senator Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire. The AFP reported that the Romneys participated in Wednesday's July Fourth parade in the small town of Wolfeboro, where they were joined by Ayotte.
