Retired Horace Mann teacher admits student sex amid growing school scandal

Tek Young Lin, a former English teacher at the Horace Mann School, said he had sex with "maybe three" students while at the elite private high school, the New York Times reported.

“In those days, it was very spontaneous and casual, and it did not seem really wrong,” he told the Times.

More from GlobalPost: Horace Mann, elite NY private school, had long history of sexual abuse

Lin, now 88,  said he had sex with “maybe three, I don’t know,”  and that crossing boundaries at the time we not as clear as today.

The latest revelations come on the heels of a recent article in the June 6 edition of the New York Times Magazine, which chronicled allegations of sexual abuse at the school during the 1970s through the 1990s.

The article, written by a former student Amos Kamil, who graduated in 1982, contained a number of interviews with former students who claimed a few well-respected teachers abused or molested them.

The teachers named in the piece are deceased, but since then, new accusations have surfaced against former teachers who are alive, including Lin.

Because of New York’s statutes of limitations, it is unlikely Lin or perhaps others could be prosecuted or sued.

Nevertheless, the Bronx District Attorney's office, where the school is located, has since opened a victims' hotline, WNYC reported
