Sheryl Crow reveals she has a brain tumor

Sheryl Crow has been diagnosed with a benign brain tumor.

On her Facebook page, Crow wrote: "Please don't worry about my 'brain tumor,' it's a noncancerous growth. I know some folks can have problems with this kind of thing, but I want to assure everyone I'm OK."

The Grammy-winning US singer-songwriter, who survived breast cancer diagnosed in 2006, said doctors found the tumor in November.

Concerned about memory loss, she'd had a brain scan.

"I worried about my memory so much that I went and got an MRI [scan]. And I found out I have a brain tumor," she told the Las Vegas Revue Journal.

"And I was, like, 'See? I knew there was something wrong.' I haven't really talked about it," she told the paper's Doug Elfman.

"In November, I found out I have a brain tumor. But it's benign, so I don't have to worry about it."

In a CNN interview, the 50-year-old described receiving the news as a "bump in the road."

According to CNN's Sanjay Gupta, a practicing neurosurgeon, Crow will have periodic scans to monitor the growth but won't need surgery.

Crow told the Journal how she forgot part of her hit "Soak Up the Sun" on stage in Florida last month.

"I'm 50, what can I say? My brain's gone to…" she reportedly told the crowd.

However, she admitted: "I have a history of forgetting my lyrics."

Crow was once engaged to cyclist Lance Armstrong, who survived testicular cancer before going on to win the Tour de France seven times consecutively.
