New J.K. Rowling book for adults announced by publisher Little, Brown
Author J.K. Rowling announced she will be selling Harry Potter e-books through her own online platform, Pottermore, retaining all electronic rights to Harry Potter. It is estimated that Rowling will make more than $160 million off of e-book sales through Pottermore.
Move over, "Harry Potter" fans.
J.K. Rowling is back, but this time she's penning a book for grownups under an agreement with publisher Little, Brown in the United States and Britain announced Thursday, The Associated Press reported.
The title, release date and subject of the long-rumored novel were not released.
Rowling's seventh and final "Harry Potter" book came out in 2007. The series, started in 1998, broke sales records around the world and were published by Bloomsbury in Britain and Scholastic in the U.S., the AP reported.

Rowling will now share the same publisher as "Twilight" series author Stephenie Meyer, according to the AP.
In a statement, Publisher David Shelley said he's "thrilled" to be a part of Rowling's next chapter.
"The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher," Rowling said in the statement. "I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life."

The transition from children's author to adult novelist can sometimes be tricky, but Rowling has the advantange in that her "Potter" books were popular among audiences of all ages and she is widely credited with revealing to publishers that children's books were no longer just for the young, according to the AP.
