Nine people are dead and 45 injured after a powerful blast outside the Delhi High Court this morning, according to news reports.  Those totals are likely to change as information continues to roll in.

Local news cited sources on the scene as saying the explosion apparently originated from a bomb hidden in a suitcase or briefcase near a counter where 100 to 200 visitors were lined up to receive passes for entry to the court.

The government will hold a press conference at 12:30 p.m. local time (45 minutes from now, and about two hours after the blast occurred).

Reportedly the National Investigative Agency (NIA) — whose chief duty is investigating terrorist incidents — will take over the investigation soon.

Currently, disaster management troops are securing the area and the court is being evacuated.
