Ethiopia accused of starving opponents

GlobalPost

Drought in the Horn of Africa and famine in Somalia are eliciting a massive international humanitarian response, but a recent report by journalists working undercover in Ethiopia alleged that the government in Addis Ababa is using aid selectively: giving food to party members and supporters but withholding it from opponents.

The report by the BBC’s Newsnight programme was in-depth but the allegations of politicised aid are not new nor are complaints of human rights abuses.

The Ethiopian government’s response was predictably angry.

So is Ethiopia starving its own people, using aid giving by the US and others? Why not watch the report and make up your own mind.
