Woman nabbed trying to smuggling jailbird husband

A jailed man's wife tried to sneak him out of a Mexican prison in a suitcase following a conjugal visit, the AP reports.

Staff at the prison in Chetumal noticed that Maria del Mar Arjona, 19, seemed nervous wheeling a bulky black, wheeling suitcase out of the prison, police reportedly said.

Guards checked the bag and found inmate Juan Ramirez Tijerina — serving a 20-year sentence for a 2007 conviction for illegal weapons possession — curled up inside in the fetal position.

Arjona was arrested and charges are pending.
