The cost of Japan’s earthquake

While technicians are battling to stabilize a third reactor at a quake-stricken Japanese nuclear plant, the authorities are beginning to take stock of the enormous devastation wrought by the earthquake and tsunami which have brought parts of Japan's economy to a standstill.
