Newly re-elected Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has reappointed Shia leader Nouri Maliki (pictured) as prime minister. The move comes after a deal was reached to end months of political deadlock but the power-sharing deal was thrown into doubt after the main Sunni-backed alliance, led by former PM Ayad Allawi, walked out of parliament.
