Olympic curling captivates Wall Street

New York Times reporter Eric Dash normally covers the fast-paced world of Wall Street, banking and finance. But he recently discovered that Wall Street isn’t only interested in cut-throat trading and rising markets. Wall Street has been captivated by Olympic curling.

To some, it looks like athletes pushing a rock around the ice with a broom. But for many traders, it’s a big part of their day as business channel, CNBC, switches to coverage of the event after the closing bell. Douglas A. Kass, the president of Seabreeze Partners, is one of those traders. He says curling is “like drinking merlot.”
