Protests in Mumbai

(You were at the protests today, how many people were there?) There were thousands of people, and this is not something you see very often. The streets were jampacked with thousands and thousands of people. People are primarily angry at the ruling classes who they feel have failed the people badly and failed to prevent the attacks. The anger has also been expressed at these militant groups. (Who was expressing anger and how?) This was a cross section of the Indian population, and this was not organized by any one group. Everyone was united by a sense of outrage. (To what sense have people found out about this extra bag of explosives in the subway system in Mumbai?) No, people were not aware of that because that news broke while the protest was happening. (Several of the protesters you talked to expressed a desire for war with Pakistan. Is this something the government of India is considering?) No, I don’t think so and the government has said so much. They want to wait to see what Pakistan does. But protesters were calling for action, mainly targeted strikes against training camps in Pakistan. But the Indian government knows how inflammatory that could be.
