G8 agreement on global warming

There are two perspectives on today's agreement: the first is that it's meaningless and it's more empty rhetoric from the world's leaders; the second is that it represents progress, as in this is the furthest President Bush has gone on the climate change issue and that it's important to signal to China and India that the US will be at the bargaining table. The Bush administration continues to say any agreement is meaningless unless India and China do their part. This analyst agrees that China and India must be at the table as well, but calls such demands from the US ironic. Tomorrow President Bush and other G8 leaders will meet with leaders from developing nations including India. And some world leaders are already saying today's pledges don't go far enough.
