Zimbabwean opposition calls for peacekeepers

The World
The World

Zimbabwe is not a failed state and there’s no armed conflict, so no need for peacekeepers. (Does this mean that your government would prevent peacekeepers from entering the country?) UN peacekeepers need a mandate and also permission from the host country to enter. Sure, we’d keep them out. If I were to bring armed peacekeepers into the US, that would be ridiculous. (The election as it’s supposed to happen, will the opposition leader’s name be on the ballot?) Yes. (Is there a greater good in holding off on the election given the current climate and international pressure?) The Americans have never been on our friends. Ban Ki Moon is an extension of the US alliance. Our people have been in suspense for too long, there is no benefit in holding off on the election. (The country’s inflation rate is so high, there is violence on the streets. How could the country be better off for going through with the elections?) How would postponement help? The person that is elected will bring together the country. (Zimbabwe had so much promise around the time of independence. Is the current state of Zimbabwe what you fought for then, is this something you can be proud of?) I’m proud that land has been given back to the people of Zimbabwe. The farms are productive now. (Would you call this a democratic Zimbabwe?) It depends on how you define democracy. (How would you feel about the opposition leader being elected?) If people give him the mandate, good for them. I would go with the people.
