Military analysts have been expecting an assault on Kandahar since winter, but only recently did the Taliban attack, staging what NATO forces admit was a perfectly executed raid on a prison in Kandahar. The Taliban for their part asserted they have control of surrounding regions and are preparing to take over Kandahar again. This local resident says he fears for his life, and hundreds of families have fled surrounding areas. As night fell, residents heard NATO forces flying overhead and they're bracing for a major battle.
