Nepali comes in handy in the city were searching for in our Geo Quiz today. It's the bustling capital of Nepal that lies at the edge of the Himalayas. Climbing expeditions often mobilize here before heading off for Everest. The older section of the city still has Buddhist and Hindu temples and palaces, that date back to the 17th century. That draws plenty of visitors like this woman from California: "You hear Tibetan spoken just as often here as you do Nepali, the women wear beautiful chubas and the men have their beautiful hats and its a beautiful part of the world." There's also beautiful folk art. We'll talk shortly with an artist who commissions other local artists to paint portraits of dogs....don't worry we'll explain. The answer is Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Michelle Page is an artist and art collector who lives in Santa Monica, California...but she's in Kathmandu this month to commission local artists to paint what she calls "danger dog" signs.
