For today’s Geo Quiz we were looking for a city in eastern Mali, along the Niger River.

The answer is the city of Gao. Habib Koite has been there. He’s a musician from Mali, and he’s performed in Gao numerous times.

Recently, he performed for us in the Frazer Performance Studio here at WGBH. Later, we had a chance to chat about his music.
