Why is Sargassum seaweed spreading across the Caribbean?

Sargassum seaweed is perfectly natural, but its expanding and smelly presence along beaches has become a burden to Caribbean nations dependent on tourist dollars. Carolyn Beeler speaks to Chuanmin Hu, an optical oceanographer at the University of South Florida, who is studying the kinds of nutrients that are attracting sargassum to a larger and larger body of water.
