Retrial of elderly boxer on death row in Japan highlights concerns about justice system

A former pro boxer in Japan is the world’s longest-serving inmate on death row. At 87 and with dementia, his case is finally re-opening in a retrial. Legal observers believe the investigation of Iwao Hakamada was hampered by undue police pressure and the Japanese legal reliance on confessions.
