Pope Francis makes historic apology in Canada

“I humbly beg forgiveness for the evil committed by so many Christians against the Indigenous peoples,” Pope Francis said during his visit with First Nations people this week in Canada. He was apologizing for the inhumane treatment of Indigenous children at the hands of Catholic clergy at residential schools and homes run by the church. But how did the visit go over with Indigenous communities in Canada, including those people who’ve continued to be connected with Catholicism? Emma Jacobs reports.
