A scholar examines Shakespeare with contemporary lens of racial equity

Shakespeare’s plays are being edited in Florida because their sexual content has been deemed inappropriate for teens. But it’s the Bard’s depictions of race that give others pause when teaching and performing his works. Scholar Farah Karim-Cooper at the Globe Theater in London has a new book attempting to reconcile the racism in Shakespeare’s plays with what he has said about race. Jeff Lunden reports.
